"Unlike Obamacare, you deserve a 21st Century health care system that puts your needs first."
As the Chairman of the Health Subcommittee, I’m working to provide needed relief from Obamacare’s broken promises. In Ohio, we are experiencing double-digit premium hikes, our co-op health program collapsed and 20 of our counties only have one insurance company participating in the exchanges this year. It's a grim picture and Ohioans like you deserve a lot better.
Unlike Obamacare, you deserve a 21st Century health care system that puts your needs first—with more choices, lower costs and better access to the tools that put you in charge of your own care. Our plan for reform includes expanding access to health savings accounts, providing a refundable tax credit to purchase insurance that works for you, and protecting people with pre-existing conditions.

- Myth vs. Fact on Repealing & Replacing Obamacare
Myth: Republicans have no plan to replace Obamacare.
Fact: The House Republican replacement plan, the Better Way: Health Care, has been publicly available since June 22, 2016. Also, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Health and Human Services, Rep. Tom Price, introduced a bill similar to the Better Way in 2015 with full legislative text.
- Delivering Americans a 21st Century Health Care “Backpack”
At Ways and Means, Republicans are focused on eliminating Obamacare’s one-size-fits all policies and moving toward the concept of a health care “backpack” with the tools Americans need to:
- Purchase a health care plan that they like;
- Manage how they spend their health care dollars; and
- Access their electronic medical records.
Americans will be able to fill their “backpack” with what they need. And they’ll be able to take that backpack where they want to go—from state to state, job to job, or home to start a business or raise a family.
