Congressman Pat Tiberi, Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement in response to the Congressional Budget Office’s scoring of the American Health Care Act:

"The American Health Care Act aims to lower costs, increase access to care and give people more freedom and flexibility to buy plans that will meet their needs. It is a dramatic departure from Obamacare's mandated coverage that is forcing individuals and families to purchase plans they can’t afford. This new CBO report confirms that this plan will lower premiums and provide relief from the massive tax burden that Obamacare has put on middle-income Americans and small business owners.

"Right now, Obamacare is collapsing and people are paying more for fewer choices and lower-quality care. In addition to the American Health Care Act, the administration and Congress are also moving forward with reforms to cut red tape and encourage innovation and competition in the individual market. These are necessary steps that should also be taken into account as we transition to a better, patient-centered system."
