Pat Tiberi Short Bio

Sample Introduction

Pat Tiberi (pronounced TEE-berry) is a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee that has jurisdiction over tax issues, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, and trade agreements. He currently is the chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health where he is working to improve the quality, affordability, and accessibility of healthcare.  He also serves on the Subcommittee on Tax Policy.  

Congressman Tiberi previously served as the chairman of the Subcommittee on Trade. In that role, Congressman Tiberi helped lead the effort in the House to pass Trade Promotion Authority (TPA), a timeline and a process that outlines how Congress will consider trade agreements, ensuring transparent trade agreements that hold the administration accountable. His work on trade policy is helping to grow the economy by knocking down barriers and opening new markets to American goods and services creating more American jobs. 

Congressman Tiberi is an advocate of comprehensive tax reform that would create a simpler, stabler and more transparent tax code. Until that’s achieved, he is working to create certainty for families and employers by making permanent some tax provisions that are often extended retroactively. Through his efforts, he has introduced legislation that passed the House of Representatives to make permanent Section 179 expensing and bonus depreciation—two provisions in the tax code that give certainty to small businesses and free up capital for them to invest in their operations. 

As the Chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, Congressman Tiberi works with members to examine economic policy and how to help grow the economy.

Son of Italian immigrants, Congressman Tiberi has been a lifelong resident of the 12th Congressional District.  He is a 1985 graduate of The Ohio State University and was a member of The Ohio State University Marching Band.  Congressman Tiberi began his career in public service as a member of the Ohio House of Representatives.  Prior to being elected to Congress, he worked as a realtor.  Congressman Tiberi and his wife, Denice, are the proud parents of four daughters.
