On May 23, 2016, just a few days before Memorial Day, the House unanimously passed my bill to rename the VA community based outpatient clinic in Newark, Ohio to the Daniel L. Kinnard VA Clinic. Read the bill and watch my remarks honoring Daniel.
The City of Columbus is a finalist for the U.S Department of Transportation's Smart Cities Challenge, a program to help mid-size cities develop innovative and safe transportation solutions. I was happy to join my Ohio colleagues to help with the application process by urging Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx to award the Smart Cities grant to our city. As Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, one of my top priorities is to listen to the healthcare needs of our community and advance solutions to help boost access to high quality and more affordable care. Last week, I toured the Mansfield hospital to see and learn more about OhioHealth’s Comprehensive Heart and Vascular Center and their Wellness & Prevention Center. We spoke about the importance of keeping care local and ensuring hospitals have the resources they need to help their patients.
