NEWARK | Honoring a Local Hero

On May 23, 2016, just a few days before Memorial Day, the House unanimously passed my bill to rename the VA community based outpatient clinic in Newark, Ohio to the Daniel L. Kinnard VA Clinic. Read the bill and watch my remarks honoring Daniel.

COLUMBUS | Supporting Columbus’ Application to the Smart Cities Challenge Program

The City of Columbus is a finalist for the U.S Department of Transportation's Smart Cities Challenge, a program to help mid-size cities develop innovative and safe transportation solutions. I was happy to join my Ohio colleagues to help with the application process by urging Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx to award the Smart Cities grant to our city. Read our letter to Secretary Foxx here.

MANSFIELD | Tour of OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital

As Chairman of the Ways and Means Subcommittee on Health, one of my top priorities is to listen to the healthcare needs of our community and advance solutions to help boost access to high quality and more affordable care. Last week, I toured the Mansfield hospital to see and learn more about OhioHealth’s Comprehensive Heart and Vascular Center and their Wellness & Prevention Center. We spoke about the importance of keeping care local and ensuring hospitals have the resources they need to help their patients.

Yesterday, the House passed the Helping Hospitals Improve Patient Care Act, my bill to advance needed reforms for hospitals, cancer treatment centers, and other Medicare providers.

The Helping Hospitals Improve Patient Care Act directly impacts hospitals and cancer clinics across Ohio, including the James Cancer Center at OSU.
