Dear friends & neighbors,

You may not have heard about this in the news but the House is making progress on big priorities for the American people. To date, we’ve passed more than 150 bills—making this the most productive House in the modern era.

Here is a quick list of some of our key accomplishments:

✔ Passed more than a dozen job and regulatory reform bills and sent them to President Trump’s desk

✔ Passed the Financial CHOICE Act to hold Wall Street accountable and help community banks

Passed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act

✔ Passed a number of bills to restore accountability at the VA, including the Department of Veterans Affairs Accountability and Whistleblower Protection Act

✔ Passed the American Health Care Act (AHCA) to repeal and replace Obamacare

Passed my bill, the Broader Options for Americans Act, to expand access to AHCA tax credits

Passed five bipartisan bills that improve our nation’s child welfare system

Passed needed reforms to provide law enforcement the tools they need to keep our communities safe

Of course, we have plenty of more work to do. At the top of the list is reforming our tax code to create jobs, make it easier for you to file your taxes and ensure you can save more of your hard earned paychecks.

Thanks & stay tuned,

OH-12 Update

Combating Ohio’s Opioid Epidemic

As the chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, I recently held a hearing about the economic aspects of the opioid crisis and solutions we need to combat this epidemic. One of those solutions is my bill, the STOP Act, which would require mail sent through the U.S. Postal Service from other countries to list who sent it, who is receiving it and what’s in it so that U.S. Customs can better identify counterfeit packages and illegal drugs. It is a commonsense fix that will keep drugs out of our country and out of the hands of drug traffickers in Ohio.

Promoting Patient-Centered & Affordable Health Care

Last week, the House passed my bill, the Broader Options for Americans Act, which expands health care options for certain Americans who have lost their jobs by allowing them to access the American Health Care Act’s tax credits.

It received bipartisan support and it is another step forward in fixing our broken health care system.

Providing Excellent Constituent Services

Is your passport about to expire? You aren't alone. In fact, the U.S. Passport Service is expecting a surge.

Approximately 48 million passports will expire between FY 2017 and FY 2019, compared to 31 million in the past three years. Passport Services anticipates at least 21.1 million passport applications in FY 2017, and 20.6 million in FY 2018. That means longer processing times of more than 6-8 weeks.

What should you do? If your passport is set to expire this year, it is strongly encouraged that you start the process now to renew it.
