Today, Representatives Pat Tiberi (OH-12), Rodney Davis (IL-13), Jeff Denham (CA-10), Fred Upton (MI-6) and Mimi Walters (CA-45) officially formed the Republican Main Street Caucus (“Main Street”). Main Street will serve as a formal group of members who are dedicated to strong, conservative principles related to economic and national security policy and who believe in governing in a pragmatic manner. The caucus will hold regular meetings to discuss, build consensus on, and approve legislative priorities throughout the Congress. Congressman Tiberi will serve as the chairman with Representatives Davis, Denham, Upton and Walters serving as co-chairs.

“We are focused on getting things done and delivering real results to the American people,” said Tiberi. “I look forward to serving as the Chairman of the Republican Main Street Caucus to build a stronger governing consensus among our members so that we can advance needed solutions people can count on. I sincerely thank my colleagues for their support.”

“I came to Congress to make Washington work for the people I serve, but too often political games and fighting over the small things have prevented Congress from tackling major issues,” said Davis. “With the leadership of Chairman Tiberi, I believe Main Street will be a strong advocate for those of us who want to tone down the political rhetoric and pass legislation that will have a positive impact on the lives of the people we represent.”

“Too often political rhetoric gets in the way of seeking and executing commonsense solutions to the problems facing our country. I’m proud to join my colleagues in the House and Senate to drive solutions for the individuals and small businesses that keep America running,” said Denham.

“Now more than ever we need commonsense solutions to the many problems facing our country. Unfortunately, petty partisan differences too often stand in the way of these aims,” Upton said. “It’s time we put these aside and get to work on behalf of American families and businesses who expect results. I look forward to working with my Main Street colleagues to get the job done.”

“Our constituents deserve to have their voices heard in Washington,” said Walters. “The American people aren’t focused on partisanship and political games. They care about practical solutions that make it easier to pay their bills and help send their kids to college. The Republican Main Street Caucus provides a way for us to listen and develop practical conservative solutions to deliver to the American people.”
